Rueppell's Griffon Vulture - Gyps rueppelli

Range: Throughout Africa
Conservation Status: Common but on the decline.
Habitat: Savannah to near desert.
Diet: Carrion (dead animals)
Other Information: Similar to the African White Backed Vulture but larger and more agressive at a carcass, will chase off the smaller white backed and hooded vultures. Like all vultures they spend most of the day soaring on their huge broad wings, using thermals to travel 100's of miles in a single day.
